Precision Golf

If any of you are considering changing your clubs, you simply must go here first: www.precisiongolf.co.uk.

You may have read in my brother's book about Simon and James's outfit nearby in Egham and Kathryn and I can confirm what he said. We spent 5 hrs there on Saturday. First Simon went through all our existing clubs to measure and monitor them. Unsurprisingly, most drivers have lofts well in excess of what what they say on the head (real men don't use a 12 or 13 loft.... err, yes they do!). When Brian Davis went last week, he discovered something he had long suspected: his 3 and 5-woods had identical lofts...

Simon then spends a great deal of time testing out with you the sort of variations he would recommend, after seeing you show your wares: in K's case, the answer is longer but lighter clubs, in my case, slightly stiffer shafts, less offset and less weight in woods' club heads. That was the diagnosis, then there is the cosmetics: they sell all makes and have no particular bias, nor do you have to buy your clubs there, though if you do James is the one who will do all the building.

A detailed quotation will follow later today, but it's going to be very tempting! It's all fascinating and he, Simon (30 year-old, ex pro who couldn't make it on Challenge Tour, is really engaging and very helpful. I recommend it to everyone... we shall see though whether or not it actually makes any difference!

  1. unfortunately I cannot afford precision and given that some 50 shots are usually lost on the green I would mainly need a precision putter, or a putting lesson; any suggestions there?
I am, however, in the market for one or two used TaylorMade golf sets (irons and woods)for Spain. Lets discuss, should you want to get rid of your old ones after upgrading...
    Regards,
