Weekend Golf - 22/23rd January 2011

Today is apparently known as Blue Monday...supposedly the worst day of the year, with the memories of the Festive Season fading, weather rubbish and spring (despite Colin's pic!) still some way off...

This story will do nothing to cheer you up:

A golfer at a South Florida country club was killed Jan. 13 during a robbery attempt at the course, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Sheriff’s Office is searching for the men who shot Lataurus Randall, 35, in the back on the 17th hole at Deerfield Country Club in Florida, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Police say Randall was playing golf with another man at about 6:30 p.m. when two masked men emerged from the bushes. During the robbery attempt, one of the men shot Randall. Randall was rushed to North Broward Medical Center, where he died Jan. 14, according to the report.

...makes our trip to Sarasota in Feb look a bit dodgy!  That's still a way off though: anyone up for golf this weekend?

  1. Welcome back - you been missing some barmy/balmy weather. Saturday morning would suit me very well.

  2. Thanks - we had some wind, and lots of sun, so can't complain! Kids enjoyed their scuba-diving but I went no further than snorkelling. Golf was great - challenging off the backs with all par 3s at 185 yards+ with water in play... Visit to Cairo was awesome: pyramids are a Must See!
