Weekend Golf 24/25th March

By the time we get to next weekend, Spring will have officially Sprung!

No more Six nations Rugby, endless Football soon to draw to an all-too-brief close, Cricket season just around the corner and the most exciting Masters tournament upon us in a few weeks... could be worse!

And still time to get one's game sorted out for JLC2012... interest has been expressed in a possible game next Sunday: any takers?

  1. All,

It has been proposed that we all meet up for a beer one evening the w/23rd April before we fly. Is there a date that week that suits all? Maybe the Plough at Cobham or somewhere in Esher?

  8. Evening all. Dublin approaches, itinerary as much as I have one, below.

Depart 4th May Aer Lingus E10233 LGW 0845, arrive Dublin 1005.
    Drink guinness.
Pick up big car thing, quick one for the road, off to Grand Hotel, Malahide.
Tee off Portmarnock Old 2.33pm. Drink guinness. And then some more guinness.
Tee off The European Sat 5th at 11.20, after you know what first.
Sun 6th toast the lord jesus with the black stuff, tee off Royal Dublin 10am
mon 7th tee off Portmarnock Hotel Links at 11am

Which leaves loads of time for the black velvet till we catch E10248 at 2045 to arrive back at LGW2155.

Flights cost £1271.55 including golf bags and seats etc, and I've paid a deposit of 1320 euros, balance to follow at end of this month, so expect a bill to come shortly after.

Posts above suggest Nigel back in action - was he yanking our collective chains all this time? Fab if you are still up for it Nige, but need to sort out hotel 'n stuff if you are.

26th April should be fine. Guinness all round I assume, and no german wooly woofters crying off.

  9. Sod the golf - I am clearly going to need to acquire a taste for Guinness!

  10. Thankfully I already have a taste for Guinness; it's just an improvement in my golf I seek. Perhaps playing some of the finest courses in Europe will help.

Just a thought (and sorry to be a bit base), but with that much Guinness, shouldn't we run an auction for the single room supplement?

  11. 1) I presume it is 10 a.m. tomorrow?!

2)I would support the idea of an auction for the single room supplement. Alternatively the single room could be raffled...

  14. Alas I fear I may be guilty as charged as a 'german wooly woofter'. I have just found out I am giving a lecture to a load of GPs on the evening of the 26th April and won't make it to Cobham till about 9.30pm which I suspect is well past the bedtime of many of the party. Is any other date feasible so close to tour? Doubt it but suggestions welcome.

On a separate front, I have now paid for the golf, hotel and flights and wondered if anyone fancied replenishing the Fawcett coffers before penury sets in. If you would all be so kind, I am looking at £911 per man woman or german intending to come on the trip of a lifetime, payable to account number 40176966, sort code 40 01 29.

As I understand it Rolf, Nigel is not planning an appearance and so there is no single room to fight over, auction or bribe me for.

  15. See you all on 26th April - some of you later than others at the Plough in Cobham for a drink - suggest that we meet at say 8.00pm onwards.

From 10th I am off on short trip to Malaysia so back in the UK on 19th.

All the best and Happy Easter to everyone.

    1. Soundly thrashed by Roland today which is depressing. Rolf - you brought that boy of yours up very well - he barely sniggered at all despite watching me make a horlicks of nearly every shot today. Thank him for me again for his patience and kindness!

Thanks for the injection of funds from Messrs Lawrence, Jelfs, Morley and McNally, all safely and gratefully received.

I will make enquiries about the seventh spot at the hotel and golf courses Nigel. I suspect there will be a point of no return, financially at least, where you will need to make a firm decision. I would be chuffed if you can make it.
