JLC

Good to see some debate!

To re-iterate, the only choices are between the Island and Portmarnock Old on day one, and Seapoint or the European on day two, because Friday is the only day we can play Portmarnock Old and Saturday the only day we can play the European. Presumably, because of the bank holiday week-end, tee times are difficult.
AA routeplanner says the European is 55 miles from Malahide, so a good hour and a quarter trip, but the tee time is user friendly and it would not be too much of a rush. As far as the transport goes, I think it would be 80-100 euros cheaper if we drive ourselves in two cars compared to being ferried around. I hear Rolf's suggestion re the 9 seat minibus, which I had looked at before but I didn't think we would get seven blokes with golf clubs and luggage in to a vehicle with no luggage space other than the two spare seats. What does everyone think? I'm happy to drive whatever and keen to keep costs down as it is starting to look a bit pricey.

Any news about the foot Nigel? Hope knee not too sore Roland.

  1. Sorry Martin but frankly it's a bloody miracle I have worked out how to do this at all.

  2. We have used Mercedes minivans and VW transporters (which I saw on another web page for GBP 385) on previous occasions. I am happy to volunteer as a driver as well...

  3. All gone a little quiet on the JLC front. I will assume option A with two hired cars unless I hear different opinions by close of business Monday evening.

    1. Portmarnock old and the European seem to be the popular choices. I think Rolf may have a point about using a nine seater and will enquire about comparative costs tomorrow. I have not heard anything from Nigel and his foot ailments for a while. Earth calling Nigel, come in Nigel....

  5. Hi Adrian - well no positive news on the foot - it is much the same as it was 7 months ago, and with 4 months to go the chances probably aren't very good. I am seeing your chum Sue Kendall on Friday - she could work miracles, but I rather doubt it. On that basis I suggest you plan for 6, and if it does recover then I can see what it would entail to boost to seven.
